I finally got transferred and it looks like we are moving again to Spokane.

We'll be living on the West side of town. Housing looks promising. Any weird things of note, on the Spokane side or Washington side of things, a guy ought to know about?

Washington is a great place to become a resident of with the 90 day wait to buy resident hunting and fishing licenses. I'll buy a non-res fishing when we get boots on the ground.

I have lived in Western Washington before for 7 years, and I have driven that I-90 drive between Seattle and Butte, Mt a couple thousand times. I am pretty familiar with the area.

West side of town is ok. I'm in the Shadle neighborhood, just south of Francis. there has been an uptick in prowlings in the west side of town. they're pretty bold, some surveillance videos showing them entering back yards and garages. I had an old non-running snowblower go missing. I think they reached over the fence from the alley behind my house.

1/2 hour from hunting/fishing if you can navigate the regulations booklets. Download them at wdfw.wa.gov. They can be confusing. don't eat fish from the spokane river below downtown. I wouldn't swim in long lake, either. fishing is great on lake roosevelt. hunting can be pretty good, too. an inland empire paper company permit is not a bad investment. lots of grouse/rabbits, some deer/elk/moose on their property (and they own a lot of it!).

Waitts lake is trout mecca. drowning worms can get you limits in less than an hour between the public launch and Wynonna resort in about 30 feet of water. drop to the bottom and reel up 4-5 turns. a lot of people troll out there successfully, but worms have worked better for me.

I'd recommend a GPS landowner chip like On-X maps or the like. people are pretty touchy about trespassing and the penalties have gotten MUCH stiffer lately. like confiscating rifles and such.

if you'd like more, feel free to hit me up!

Thanks, I'll do all those things.

It appears that women and children should not eat walleyes out of Lake Roosevelt, does that effect us as well?

Mostly likely will buy something in the boonies on the other side of the base.

i think the restriction is only for women of childbearing age and kids. Mercury, i believe. Boat launches on the river would tell you if there are any other restrictions, like not eating more than 2 meals of walleye a month.

The IDIOTS on the West side of the State passed a Gun Law that now makes you a felon by simply handing a gun to someone else!!! Even a family member. Gun range ,hunting anywhere in the WHOLE State. It must be transferred through an FFL and then a criminal background check is done. Oh by they way they get you for a USE Tax also!!!.................lol

Gotta be something in the water on the west side of the Coast Range. That Liberal stupidity extends all the way along the coast from Vancouver, BC down to the Mexican border.

That is what it was, I thought it was Roosevelt but Rich is right.

On another note, I turned down the job. Thanks for the help everyone.

I really just want to move back to Wyoming or back to Alaska.

I am not one who subscribes to the "if mama aint happy, aint nobody happy!" mantra.

But I still have to live with her, and if she can't manage it there, added to the bad vibes I got coming from the hiring manager, and the fact that I would lose tenure.

So it's not really for us.

Personally I'd much rather live in Eastern, WA than a lot of other places in the lower-48. But getting transferred into something has been fairly problematic.

Thought we were going to Walla Walla for quite a few weeks, but that didn't pan out. Got offered the job over the phone, and never got the hiring paperwork. About 3 weeks later, I got an email that my status had been updated and it told me another person had been selected. I tried to call the hiring manager to ask WTF was going on, but they won't return my calls. Someone's cousin probably had a better resume, or their niece really needed to get away from stripping and be a safety person. Either way I didn't get the job.

I got offered a job north of Sacramento this morning I am going to turn down. Probably a nice place, but I'd have lost tenure. It is a back fill for someone on workman's comp.

I have a couple applications in Alaska, Utah, Montana, Texas and another place in California.

3 goals.

Get promoted

Keep my tenure

Like where we are going

But I have quit applying for stuff I don't want just to get promoted. I figure that is a good way to wake up suck starting a glock.
