coues.

I would get any vehicle I drove on a regular basis fitted with a mechanism that allowed you to operate the gas pedal with your hand.

As I have stated before use Science to your benefit.

Coues,

NE 450 has a good point about the hand accelerator option but try it before you do it. I did not care for it and just use my left leg and try to drive automatics. I can drive a stick but try not to in Chicago traffic.

One key is finding a comfortable car, I like Chevy trucks with bench seats.

I am getting a left foot accelorator pedal in a couple of weeks. Its a portable model so I can switch between the car and the truck.
I think for me itll be better. My back gets into knots using my left foot instead of the right for the gas now.

Sorry to hear of your loss. My wife is an OT and also missing a limb(left arm just below the elbow).

From watching her and hearing of her patients from time to time, all I can say is do what the therapist say do and soon you'll be able to do everything anyone else can do. It may take alittle longer, but never doubt you are any different than anyone else in your ability. She can do anything w/o her arm, she can even switch hit a softball! Small things you and I wouldn't think about like shoe laces, lifting things, putting on your watch, etc, she can do them. I had to teach her to place a key on a key ring one handed, but she's got that one down as well.

Good luck and stay determined.

coues,

As far as not knowing what to say, that's easy.

Just say "Yes". Having myself been on the receiving end of kindness, just for the sake of kindness sake, let me repay some of that to another that could use some.

I also have a 308 and a 30-06 you can use if the 338 is worrisome to you (recoil-wise).

If anyone else in your group needs a place to sleep, my tent is bigger than I need for me, you can have "dibs" on the air bed for yourself, and I don't snore (much), despite what my wife says (I think she makes them stories up).

Or I can "bunk up" with your other partners in their tent and leave the larger tent for just you and your daughter, more privacy that way for the both of you.

I'm a lousy cook (but willing to anyway-don't say I didn't warn you though), but a pretty fair dishwasher, and I'm hell at collecting firewood (I have a CHAINSAW).

We'll find a way to get you out there among'st them, don't worry about that part. Just focus on your recovery. The hunt WILL HAPPEN.

If any other fellow AR members in the Arizona area can jump in to assist, I'd open that tent up to them as well.
