I am heading to Winnet this fall for some antelope hunting in zone 481 (provided I am drawn). I was planning to hunt block land, but would like to know if anyone can recommend some private land (with or without fee).

Unit 481 has a very large percentage of public land, BLM and State along with the CMR Wildlife Refuge (limited antelope habitat in comparison). However, there really isn't any reason to pay to hunt antelope in this district.

Expect an opening day rodeo since this is a popular area due to public lands. Best advice is to spend a day or two before season opens and then pick a spot on opening day and wait until the herds come by you. Long carefully planned stalks can often be ruined by some jerk in a 4 Wheeler, or pickup truck, or some one doing their own sneak attack on the ground.

You will have a good time and should be successful with a little patience.
