was just watching the show and they show the hunter watching some big ol mule deer go over the ridge out of sight. So then the guide gets on his radio and tell another of there hunting parties that there are some deer coming thier way and you hear the other guy say be quiet they are coming over the hill. of course followed by gunshots. Made me sick. What do you guys think of using radios to kill game. In Alaska this is illegal. -------------------- THANOS WAS RIGHT!

What do I think? I think it sucks. I'm curious too about where it took place. If it happened in a state where illegal, and they simply forgot to edit it out of the program, well, it's not the last they'll have heard of it, that's for sure. I had just checked to. I have no idea about legality of it in Oregon. I remember one hunting show, back when I subscribed to the Outdoor Channel, it was "Do it youself Hunting", I think, on one episode they were shooting antelope from a county road here in Wy, not a two track, and it wasn't three of four episodes later the show was gone.

Well.. there are county roads and then there are county roads... there is one county road that I can think of that branches off of Ormsby Road that comparing it to a two track would be unfair... Hell a "Two track" would be an improvement over what it is (don't get run over by any tumble weeds sport!) But I know exactly what you mean, hunting shows do none of us any good.... AD If I provoke you into thinking then I've done my good deed for the day! Our unpaved roads do leave a little to be desired. But they seperate the men from the boys! Actually I know a biologist that has ticketed a hunter for shooting at a coyote from a two-track out the window of the truck. I thought that was legal, but he says no! In Wyoming it is a road! Had he driven off the two track, it would have been legal! I think he was in a bad mood that day!

after being generally route on this site over the ethics thing ill tell you that the vast majority of people define what is legal as ethical. i hunt in AR were baiting, running with dogs and shooting from a vehicle are all legal. i live and hunt in SC were none are. so some say XYZ is illigal so it got to be unethical right? well then the reverse must be true also. if its unethical its probably illigal right? NOPE depends on were you live. feeders and high fences are legal in some states. shooting from vehicles is legal in some states. coordinating with other hunters by radio is legal in some states. party hunting is legal in some states. running deer with dogs is legal in some states.

Doing that in Colorado would get you arrested. They don't allow radios to be used to guide hunters to game or to be used in the process of a stalk. Even if it isn't illegal, in my book it would be unethical and I wouldn't allow it on a hunt I was on. I don't even allow an ATV in my hunting camps. If someone wants to hunt with an ATV, I won't go with them. Just my beliefs mind you. You all can make up your own minds. Mac

Baiting, food plots, radios, shooting from vehicles anywhere or from/across any road, dogs, party hunting are all illegal in NV. In other words, get out and hunt!

This may be something that comes back to bite someone in the arse big time. Most of the western states do not allow such practices. I can not believe that Oregon is different. JMO. Even the rocks don't last forever.

QUOTE] KSTEPHENS, Please allow me to correct you on a minor error regarding SC, it is legal to hunt deer, in the lower part of SC, with bait, run them with dogs, and shoot from a non-moving vehicle (e.g. from the bed of a truck and not from the interior). However, I do see the point of your post...

I will have to check the Oregon game laws on this to be certain that it is addressed. I do know that two brothers were in two separate Jeeps. Trying to corner a hurd of Elk by running up and down logging roads while communicating with CBs a few years ago. They got busted for harrassing game animals and hunting with electronic devices. I'm not sure if hand held "walkie Talkies" would be included. "Isn't it pretty to think so."
