here is my 13 y/o with his first buck. the buck was around 40 yds when we pulled up to the haystack. it was snowing so hard he didn't even see us. the wind was also in our favor. we stalked him for 20 yards to get a good rest on a fence post. around 75 yds, my son dropped the hammer with his NEF 7mm-08 on a 139gr intrabond that he helped load. the 139gr intrabond penetrated the spinal cord at the c7 level and dropped the buck in it's tracks.

That is awsome! Tell your son congratulations on a great kill. Looks good and cold! Skin the deer and let it hang for 5 days. Should be fantastic. Ted Kennedy's car has killed more people than my guns

watching him shoot his first buck and the excitement involved was priceless. even though i have not shot an elk myself, if we came across a trophy bull, i'd give him the shot.
