Hunters dont forget about ticks in the woods on these warm Summer days.I have had Lymes Disease the past 18 years.I am having the worse attack in 18 years this year.I have been very sick the last two months. Its something you hardly ever think about untill it happens to you.I am taking lots of antibiotics but it seems wild meat helps it the most.I have just about totally switched over to wild meat but its harder than I thought to get it here in Alaska.I grew up in Georiga where we shot deer like rabbits.I was told by my doctors that a high protien diet of wild meat would be the only way to get any strength .It is the only way plus some b-12 that I have been able to try to have a normal life.Dont forget about the ticks this stuff will eat you alive and there is no cure for it.I am trying my best to get over this hill but being sick two months has really taken me down.I am about ready to call the Vet school at the University of Georgia to see what they have found new about it.I have had a hard 18 years but I keep trying and hunting and fishing the best way I can.

A young engineer where I work got this stuff about three years ago. He was on a ventilator before they figured out what it was. Very scary. Hope you get to feeling better. I for one, am much more careful these days. DGK Let us speak courteously, deal fairly, and keep ourselves armed and ready Theodore Roosevelt

I have pulled a few ticks off of me, before they got there head buried in me.. from just mowing the lawn.... pulled a few the size of a dime off the neighbors dog the other day.... wonder if ticks and lyme disease are the reasons that I have seen some real scraggly deer around the local area of my house in the last year... our prayers are with you DGR416.... cheers seafire

According to the infectious disease specialist I went to deer can't get Lymes. Lymes only developes after tne tick first feeds off a deer and then a human.

I quit turkey hunting because of it.I figured it was not worth getting all the extra ticks I got on me.I even used spray and in the pastures I hunted they still poped up on you.My brother had what looked like a grease spot on him that was a ball of ticks or something.I really had to readjust my life after I got it.I cant go out in hot weather above 80 without getting sick.I got tired of sitting in the air conditioner in the summer and moved to Alaska. It hardly ever effects me in the Winfer but mostly in the Spring. This has been the roughest spring in 18 years so far. Also check your hunting dogs they can get it also.I hope they find a cure someway some how.I feel alot better when I am able to go hunting and fishing.

$5 can of Permanon insect repellent and you can say goodbye to ticks and chiggers. Haven't had one in years since I started using the stuff. It's a godsend.

Lyme disease is not the only disease you can get from a tick bite. Deer ticks can give you Human Anaplasmosis, which can become fatal very quickly.

Gents here in Scandinavia, and in other places as well, the ticks carry a disease known as borrelia (lyme disease), as well as Tick-borne enchepalitis (TBE). I have heard that this might also be found in other parts of the world and especially in the tropics. /Daniel
