Correct me if Im wrong, but I think that in Wyoming, landowners are given a yearly compensation from tag fees to allow the GP who draw to hunt on their land. This seems fair. When they start handing out tags to landowners its a never ending cluster f#%@#> that snowballs into a big mess. I would also endorse something like a 15 or 20% nr exchange program that allows other states residents opportunities to hunt in a different state for the same cost as a resident tag. And in exchange, participating states would allow an equal # of hunters to come to their land for the tags drawn. But there is no way that the residents who maintain their local game herds and range should have to compete with NR's for 100% of their tags. Big game hunting has in many ways already become something that is geared for the wealthy. What with the ungodly prices of most exotics like sheep and brown bears, etc. Enough already. When this trend takes over the whole spectrum, and the way things are looking for Az it will happen there very soon. Then the quality of hunting will go to hell in a handbasket. The stewards of the herds will lose intrest and the whine ass bastards from miles away who caused it will not be around when ther animals need them. Another program I would try to employ is a wildlife donation pool that allows applicants to donate a given amount like $10.00, $15.00 or $20.00 a year in exchange for preferance points, and this could be one way to offset the prohibitive cost of NR and exotic tags.

I got a good chuckle when I herd my family complaining about their Montana elk tags being something like $24. Mine were $630. I do feel something should be done about the non-resident tags. I don't believe that hunting should evolve to the highest bidder (that is unless I am the highest bidder.) A slight increase in non-rsident tags is fine, but not a $600 difference. All that money from Non-resident tags should be put to good use. Maybe clone a herd of Huge desert bighorns. Sevens

I know that WY landowners get so much per animal harvested on their land. It wasn't worth much, something like ~$10 +/- but obviously better than nothing. Interesting thought about buying bonus points thru the donation pool. Would you require the resident and NR to pay the same thing for the pref point?
