Hi All,

I am looking for some input from some Eberlestock users.
Some background, I always use a daypac while out hunting to carry everything from TP, to Binos, and extra socks to food for the day. I am tired of using cheap equipment that leaks, sags, ect.
I think I have narrowed it to 2 packs and would like your input.

1) X2 (I think this is my choice, a little bigger than I need but so what? I could empty out my pockets.)
2) H2 Gunrunner

Please your pros and cons.

Thanks, Doug

I must have looked at 15 packs before settling on an X2 for a daypack. It is perfectly configured to handle a small tripod and spotting scope along with the other usuals. I have been extremely happy with mine.

I used a Gunrunner on a bear hunt this spring and was very satisfied. Held everything I needed and was easy to wear. Big enough to haul everything I needed and small enough to keep me from loading up to much stuff.

You will not go wrong with Eberlestock. I have a J34 that I have used a couple of years. Very well made, fits well too.

Sir,

In the last six years I've done hunts in Montana and Colorado where I used a larger pack of a cheap variety. Never again.

When I was to do a bear hunt with hounds last year I started looking for a pack that would hold my rifle (hands free) and let me carry binocs, a range finder, shooting stix, water and a few other essentials. After doing my research I settled on the H2 Gunrunner.

Where I live, we mostly stand hunt. Don't need a pack I can live out of for days. Basically out in the AM, back around noon, then back out about 3pm and return that night. I now use the H2 Gunrunner almost exclusively. Only time I don't use it is when I'm bow hunting. So it gets used for three to five days at a time, monthly.

As with all things, opinions vary, and I've not used dozens of packs so take my words with a grain of salt, but the H2 Gunrunner works for me.

Best,

GWB

I've got a J-34 just one and it is truly the most usable pack I've ever owned. It's a great day pack that is expandable to a full on multi day expedition pack it hauls a 20Lb day load or a 70 Lb multi day load equally well.

Folded up in the day pack mode it's about the same size as a larger day pack holding about 2,000 cubic inches. Expanded with the zip on duffel it holds 7,500 Cubic inches.

For the serious back country hunter this is one of the best packs ever built.

I have a very old Project X that is a combo rifle and bow pack. I bought it at least 10 years ago and it is an awesome pack. I love the way I can pack a rifle in it. I got the rain slicker for it this year. Ron

Check out their Team Elk Pack. It's the Gunslinger design with an internal, robust frame, side pockets added, and much lighter.

The Gunrunner is a great day pack.

I might get a J-34 as well.

The x2 is a great daypack that can do a lot more if needed. I have the scabbard and fanny pack added to mine for elk. You can't beat it multi-use and allows you to add just whet you need without being too bulky or heavy.

I have just returned from a 2nd Rifle season elk hunt in CO using a Eberlestock J34 as a daypack and carried it with a total weight of 28lbs which including my 9lb. rifle. Last year I used the same pack for a CO backpack hunt with a carry weight of just over 60lbs. It is a little large and, a bit heavy for a day pack but it carries well. It has carried comfortably what I have needed to pack, up to about 60 lbs. The rifle scabbard is the main reason I bought the pack and it continues to serve me well.
