Gents! I have stumbled across a Gustav Grenschow drilling, pre war in 12/8x57jr and wonder if this is a good brand or not? Sincerely Daniel

Apparently buchsenmeister arbeit (made by an individual riflemaker) .... if condition is good...how can you go wrong?? Bore is .318, not .323...which is no problem since S&B loads for it...brass is available ....power adequate for elk and caribou. I have a BBF in 16/8x57JR .... and love it.

Gents! Thanks for replies! I have also managed to get some more info on the drilling, It is said to be made by GECO in Hamburg during 1933 and it has been used quite a lot and has 2 smaller dents in then right shotgun barrel. There are a trijicon scope on it which is not in claw mounts, but threaded in and the seller says that the scope is not perfectly straight as he can see the barrels slightly on the left of the poa in the scope. Other than that it seems to be an ok drilling. What would it cost to fix the dents and the scope mount to a claw mount? Sincerely Daniel

Daniel, Dents in a barrel if smallish will not cost more than a 1000 Skr or 140 ish USD. A clawmount is a 7-8000 Skr deal or 1-1150 USD deal ans can only really be handled by 5-10 smiths here in Sweden. The guys in Klippan is one of thoses places. I think you should testfire the Drilling and se if you like it, id so then get it, they are a friend for life. BTW GECO is a trading name as well, no smith or factory. /C

You should pass on it, IMO. The gun is going to cost you more to sort out than it will be worth when all fixed up...if you got it for free.
