The rear sight on my 9.3x74r/9.3x74r barrels did not last 3 adjustments! It broke in half!!!

I knew that thing was flimsy just looking at it.

What can I replace it with?

Do not really want to put on another factory style....piece of crap, (but where can I get a replacement as a last resort?)

Anyone here have there rib dove tailed for another rear sight base?

Any Suggestions?????

They are, as they say in Italian...F-R-A-G-I-L-E...(fra-gee-lay). Eeker

I bought all the extra sets that Jeff Mayfield had, when he took over the stock from Cape Outfitters. Either have some kind of folding sight put in the same place, or install a decent standing sight a bit forward, so the scope clears.

The only way to adjust windage is to loosen one side, then tighten the other, WITH CARE! Tighten things just enough that the sight folds with a little resistance. Any tighter will warp or break the rear sight blade. They aren't the 412/512's "strong" point, for sure.

The "with care" part is what got me!

I've always been accused of being a bit heavy handed.

I did not use much (in my book) torque at all.

Actually they last quite well, mine from the 70's is still fine BUT you cannot tighten the set screws....

Like was said, you turn the set screws untill the side to side "play" is out of the sight and then STOP!

If you do that, the sight holds up well... At least they have on my 412's..
