I am using IMR4831 - 51.5g under a Hornady 139g softpoint, but interested in what others use. Would imr4350 be a better choice - slightly more velocity for similar pressure and more accurate? At nearly £50 a tub over here would welcome any thoughts before splashing out on a different powder. My other rifle is a 243 Heym SR20 and if the powder is also good for that so much the better.

I use loading data for the 280 Remington for my 7X65s. I've used mostly IMR 4350 Powder. Quick, Cheap, or Good: Pick Two

I think you're on the right track already with IMR-4831 in the 7x65R. I use H-4831SC which is reputed to be a tad slower but I'm using this powder with a 154 (Hornady RN) or 160 gr. bullet in that cartridge. If you're interested in economy (bang for the Buck) I suggest trying AA-4350 with the 139 grainers. I've found this to be a good powder in loads where I've been using previously using H/IMR4350. As you mention; AA/H/IMR-4350 ought to be optimal for both the 7x65R & the .243 Winchester, too. Cheers, Number 10

Thanks, will get a tub of imr4350 and give it a try. Has any body tried Varget - seems to be good in 243 but what about a longer cartridge ?

Varget is my secondary 'go to' powder. Usually grab for Hodgdons 4895. Has given me great results in .243 /.308 / 30'06 / 7 x57r / .375HH. Pretty flexible! Rgds Ian Just taking my rifle for a walk!........
