I am toying with rechambering a Sauer 3000 drilling for the very reason the 30R Blaser was invented: The .30/06 case won't extract well. The drilling lifts the case out a little, but I still have to hook the case with a tool to remove it. As an alternative, I was considering cutting off about 1/4 inch from the 30R case, then running 30R cases into a .30/06 die and trimming the case to fit the chamber. I experimented with doing that, but found I would also have to turn the case neck to get the case to chamber. If I could get a second set of extractors for the drilling, I would have a rim recess cut for the 30R case rim. With this arrangement extraction would be much easier; yet I would be able to return the drilling to .30/06 in the event I wanted to sell it. Does anyone see any problem with this approach, except for the problem of finding parts? Quick, Cheap, or Good: Pick Two

If you dont want to run the .30R blaser reamer in you could just change the extracter and used necked up/resized 7x65R brass - easier and cheaper to obtain than (RWS?) .30R Blaser brass

Good point about the 7X65R. I have plenty of Swiss manufactured 30R Blaser brass, but it is hard to find. A couple years ago a fellow who travels to Switzerland brought me back 500 once-fired boxer primed cases with a "T" headstamp. I also have a good supply of 7X65R, which is easier to come by. I'll give that a try. Quick, Cheap, or Good: Pick Two

sounds good on papper but I think useing fire formed 7x65 brass to create a rimmed 30-06 would still requier a chambering reamer to cut the resess into the extracter to allow for the rim so you can close the barrels. I think it would be simpler to fix the existing extractor, Might be a simple fix. DRSS NRA life AK Master Guide 124

RUAG - it's what Blaser uses for their factory ammo. Cheers, Number 10

According to the RWS reloading manual, the .30 R Blaser was designed so that both rifles in .308 and 30/06 could be reamed. As Gerry correctly stated, "T" stands for Thun in Switzerland, an ammo factory formerly government now part of the RUAG empire.

The wife and I both have Sauer 3000 12x12x30/06 Drillings. We hunt with them a lot, it is my wifes favorite hunting gun, and we have never had any extraction trouble. I would see about having the extractor looked at first. DOUBLE RIFLE SHOOTERS SOCIETY

Ditto No 2... I did once re-chamber a set of Valmet 412 30-06 barrels to 300 H&H flanged, and it worked fine. Still, I really don't see any reason to trade a great chambering with worldwide ammo availability and numerous load options for a hard-to-find round like the 30 Blaser. I have a Sauer 3000 12/12/30-06 and have had numerous BBF combos in 308 and 30-06 rifle chamberings and never had an extraction problem with any. If I were you I would have your extractor fixed and stay '06.
