A couple of years back I had a very good stock maker trim down the beavertail forend of my 12ga/30-06 Sauer 3000 driilling, and it made the gun much nicer to throw to the shoulder and seemingly faster handling.

This is a poor photo that doesn't do it justice.

It did turn out that bad! Eeker The photo, that is, and I'll send you one. Wink

I'm fresh out of 9,3X74s right now. Frowner I tried to steal one on Gunbroker, but someone screwed me out of it. Mad I need a cheap high quality best-quality beater in perfect condition, if you run across one. hilbily

Good on you! I've always hated those beavertail forends on those Sauers too!

I can't belive its taken me a month to come accross this topic. I guess I've been to busy remodleing my house.
I've thought of doing this very thing to my Sauer but never got the idea off the ground.
Thanks luv2safari for shareing this it helps with moral support for this project and the photo show's what to expect.
Now if I can just get this darn house done so I can move on to other projects.

This Krieghoff Neptun Dural has a beavertail forend and I kind of like it. The gun is very light and I think the wider grip gives a lot of control...personal preference I guess

The beautiful Neptuns have a more semi-beavertail forend that looks appropriate to the gun, IMO.

Thanks for sharing it. I love drilling porn. Cool

I have twoo JP sauer drillings of the same caliber, 30 06 - 12 g.
Of the two, the one I use more has a beavertail forend.
The other one has a traditional slim forend

Cazador,

Which do you prefer? Some love the hand filled with the beavertail.

As I mentioned I prefer the one with beavertail forend.
Eventhough the slim one has better wood, a sling system inside the stock and more engraving, normaly I use the one with beavertail forend.
Probably this is because I use it more as a shotgun.
