Does anyone make an ammo carrier either for the stock or belt that holds shotgun shells as well as rifle shells together?

fox.....

As far as Buttstock cartridge holders go most of the German Buttstock & Forearm stuff is custom made by so-called Cottage Industry shops. I've the address of one lady who makes them from felt and does an entire series of forearm protecters with two/four rifle/shotgun cartridges on each side of the forearm (also helpful when shooting from a Rest or in a High Seat as it helps pad the forearm) or a Buttstock Model from 7mm thick felt (for the purpose of elevating your head/eye position when using a scope) which holds a couple of Rifle, Shotgun, Hornet or 22lr cartridges handy on the "off-side". These work pretty well if the Drilling or Combo Rifle doesn't get handled too roughly. If the going gets beyond stalking the lower 40 acres and into a Yukon Hunt under harsher conditions I've found you tend to be looking at or reaching for a couple of empty cartridge holders occaisionally since although the elastic holders are pretty tight and firm they do tend to loose/drop one/two perchance.

IMO the most practical are the Ammo Wallets which are either leather or felt and can ordered from the Frankonia catalog https://export.frankonia.de/scripts/home/home.php. They have a couple of different models for both Drillings and Combo Rifles, holding shotgun shells, rifle cartridges and some also have space for barrel insert cartridges; .22 Hornets, 22 Mags or 22lrs, too.

The one I use is a wallet out of felt with an elastic band to hold the cover shut (as a bonus silent in use too) with two shotgun shells (20 gauge), four primary rifle cartridges (9.3x74R) and five 5.6x50R Magnum insert barrel cartridges also. About the size of a thick, long wallet, two of these; one each in my hunting coat pockets will suffice for anything up to and including a small skirmish.

I don't know where they could be available in the US but I could imagine the New England Gun Shop may be a lead.

A real shame, here too; if we would have known I would have been happy to bring you one as I just returned to The Fatherland from three weeks in New England and departed from New York on Tuesday afternoon.....Ugh!

Gerry-

Would you happen to have a pic of one of those forearm carriers?

Perhaps that is one of those things better left for sorting out one self!?

Best regards Chris

I had Murray Leather make me a buttstock leather shell carrier that holds rifle shells and shotgun shells. The rifle shells are on the muzzle end of the butt stock shell carrier.

Also Aleko at Heritage Arms makes leather shell carriers [for the belt] and can make them for rifle and shotgun.

Lee LeBas carries a good assortment of leather, and I got a small wallet for drilling shooting from him last year. 775-867-3730
