. I posted on this before but the gun has just come thru the door so here is a recap / update! I just picked up a neat and sweet combination gun being a Buhag Cape Gun as stated in 8x57 JRS (7,92 x 57) and 16/70 with an additional set of side by side 16 barrels as well. It is topped with a 6 x 42 Zeiss Jena glass. Buhag was the DDR East German Suhl based co-operative that produced rifles and shotguns for export and the East German market - the then German Democratic Republic. Gunsmiths who were members of the cooperative could obtain parts and materials from the Büchsenmacher-Handwerksgenossenschaft e.G.m.b.H. and when their weapon was finished they had to sell it to the cooperative at a set price. The guns were then exported or sold in the DDR. The combination gun needs some work - new pins, tidy up the wood, a new pad and one or two screws need to be replaced, but all in all a sound '60s or early '70s hunting piece! Could be fun for driven hunts with a slug in the shotgun barrel or simply for high seat hunts for European boar and - when opportunity knocks - predators with the shotgun and number 4's! Nice combination gun! Pictures to follow..... . "Up the ladders and down the snakes!" | ||
