I tried to order some Norma 154 Oryx loads this evening and was told that they no longer supply this load. Load info is scarce for the 7x65R. All the data I can find so far uses Norma powders. I'm curious if anybody has a preferred IMR or Alliant powder that they like for this cartrige in their drilling or combo. It would be nice to have a starting load for it if you have one. This drilling is pretty good with 173 grain bullets, but a from what I was told, a bit better with 154's. Thanks for any help.
I'm off hunting over the weekend, no phone, no internet, just trees, dogs, a friend and guns.

Black Fly, I use 50 grains of IMR 4350 for the Oryx 156. RWS Brass with RP 9,5 Primers.
I also tried 48 grains Rel 17 and 52 grains of Rel 19.
IMR 4350 worked better for my Drilling.

Hope it helps

Drop me a pm with an email and I can let you have some 7x65r data. Hornady publish in their book and can also let you have a compendium from a German reloading manual. N160, imr 4831 and 4350 all seem to be good. I use 51.5 of IMR 4831 under 139 gn Hornady soft point - mild recoil and accurate.

For vihtavouri powders you can reduse these 7x64 loads by 7-10% and work up.

You can also use .280 Remington starting loads if you are shooting them in a drilling or double gun.

Black Fly,

I checked some of my notes and I found some equavilents to Norma powder that you can use. N203B is RL15; N204 is RL 19; and MRP is RL22. This info came directly from Hercule,s now Alliant powder.

When in Europe, I used R903 which is also RL15/N203B in both my 7x57R and 9.3x62 with great results in both.

Hope this helps.
