I'm using 15.5gr of Trail Boss over a 95gr Hornady Makarov bullet. I like the results. This is what I clocked and used a 40 yard zero for the data with my sights .50" above the bore.

l-2-s,

You're on to a Good Thing, Buddy.

We use the 9mm Makorov bullets for our 9.2x62's with Trail Boss & SR-4759 at the indoor shooting ranges here to practice for the Driven Hunt season.

You get alot of Bang-for-the-Buck with these less expensive than hunting bullets, hardly any recoil.

I hadn't thought about the 9.3x72R though - good call.

Cheers,

Thanks, Gerry...

I made a little plastic front blade to slip over the existing one to get it shooting on at 40 yards.

The great thing is it shoots only 1" high at 100 yards with the existing sights on this venerable old Gladbach cape gun with 27" barrels.

I don't want any more velocity. It'll already causes bad damage to rabbits at this velocity. I could get 200-300 fps more easily.

l-2-s,

Nice looking Piece that Cape Gun; just @ the right amount of patena for me, lotsa character!

I'm also a sucker for a Prince of Wales pistol grip stock - Too Cool!

One of my US Army Buddys just snatched a gorgeous Hammer Drilling in 16x16/9.3x72R; really cool Boomer w/an 60's era Geco scope (made by Schmidt & Bender) in Suhler Claw Mounts. My Gunsmith dated it according to the Proof #s and figures it's somewhere around a 1913 vintage. It has really-y-y deep rifling for lead bullets and no Nitro Proof, so we haven't shot it yet; he's gonna wait until he's back in the States and gin-up some lead bullet Black Powder loads for it.

Glad to see there's some creativity for those older pieces out there; Good on Ya - Gotta drop those Attack Rabbits before they get into your Personal Space!

Cheers,

Now, you need to pry some delrin tips out of some Noslers and super glue them on the front of these little bombs and launch them at varmits. Then you would have a real varmint rifle! Of course you need to get them to go to the sights too, but how hard could that be?
I do love that gun.

I use the little 95gr Jacketed H/P Mak bullets in 9.3x74R.
12gr of RedDot. No filler or wad over the powder.

Shoots to the sights at 25m & 50m.

Saves my shoulder. Fun to shoot.
