Well it's new to me. I think I'm going to like it better than any I've had (or still have). It;s a long barreled (29+") 20 ga over a 6.5X58R rifle barrel. Very accurate and with the long barrels it swings like a bird gun. The short barreled drillings are just too light and short for wingshooting to me. Though I have shot a couple 25 straights with my 24" Krieghoff. I really like this 6.5X58 caliber. Still working up load but it sure shoots nice with what I've used. It has a Hensoldt 2 3/4X in claw mts. Drillings have always been my favorite guns. I never lusted after double rifle drillings as I love single shot rifles but hate SS shotguns (except flint fowlers) Cool

Sounds nice, but I can only image in my little mind's eye what she might look like. A picture would help. I have no experience with the 6.5x58. I assume it's flanged, was it designed around those old pencil shaped bullets that have such a reputation for penetration?
Thanks

Here it is. The caliber is about equivalent to the 25/35 with a little more. I use 100 grain bullets that are fairly fragile due to the slower velocity (@ 2400). It's very comfortable & light in recoil. Some of them take .260 bullets, but fortunately this one takes .264's so I don't have to swage them down.

Hey Greg:
Is this the one you found in eGun?? Please holler back at me via my e-mail address ..... aax1@bellsouth.net
I need to talk to you, and lost all data a month ago with a hard-drive suicide.

Thanks, It's very mild to shoot & very accurate. Worked up a load using 30 grs of 4895 @ 2500 fps (100 gr sierra HP). I'll shoot a deer this week with it & see how it performs. Shot a 3/4" group yesterday @ 100 yds. Here's another pic of the opposite side. Thanks for looking.

Thanks "Pack". My pleasure. BTW, one thing I don't like about these German drillings are the safeties. I've always been taught to take the safety off as the gun is coming to my shoulder and the side buttons are hard to do that with. On my Krieghoff & this Kerner, I solder a steel "button" on top of the safety lever to extend it out and checker it like the original. Makes the safety easy to operate with your thumb in the shooting position.
If you ever want to take it back, just heat & wirebrush the solder out of the old chekering after the button comes off.

Killed a large (250#+) boar with the 6.5X58R today. The Bullet broke the near shoulder, blew up the heart, another rib and lodged under the skin, opposite side in pieces. I like this gun Big Grin I thought I could hear old Emil Kerner chuckling from the big gun shop in the sky.. Wink
