Here a picture of the wolf I shot a few days ago while hunting whitetail deer on my property. The 7x57R was very effective - a one-shot nearly instant kill at 80M. My first wolf! On the walk back to our cabin I used the 16 ga. barrel to shoot a ruffed grouse that flushed from the field. I love my combination gun!

Yes Sir!

7x57R + 16 Gauge, a classic combination. The only way you could improve that would be with a Drilling!

Go on, you deserve a Christmas present! Smiler

Actually Ian, I already have it, a birthday present to myself last spring... Krieghoff Trumpf Dural 16x16x7x57R. It's away at the 'smith having a .22 RF insert barrel fitted and a recoil pad added to lengthen the stock.

I actually weighed it, since I had a nice new shiny scale in our butchering shed. 100 lbs even, about 45 Kgs. A good size for a female.

Savage 99, I bought this Merkel from an elderly German gentleman from British Columbia, It is a two barrel set, with 16x16 barrels choked 1/2 and 3/4. Have used it for a great variety of game. here are a few more pictures...

Very nice gun and an awsome trophy you have taken with it.

Most people who don't live in the north won't realize what a rare and diffacult trophy a wolf is.

Congradulations.

Long-walk,

Cool.....just too Cool!

Waidmannsheil!

A great trophy, a nice rifle and the photos; well, they round out the whole "picture", too.

I'm a 7x57R fan also; (Combo Rifle & Single Shot). Currently I'm loading the 139 gr. Hornady Interbonds, they perform excellently. A lot of bullet for this cartridge as IMO it does just fine with any reasonable brand name Cup & Core bullet - the fancy stuff is just icing on the Cake.

Cheers,
