Good list. I'd like to see pics of the persian. I have one in the safe, but it's so nice I don't want to touch it. The Mausers, Arisakas and 03's are set up for scope mounts but the trapdoor and krags are both open sights. I will get my camera going soon. I was planning on posting some pics but with deer hunting, t-giving and xmas all bunched together the pics were on the backburner. ______________________ Are you gonna pull those pistols or whistle Dixie?

I know this is an old thread, I love sporterized military rifles. If you still have these I'd appreciate pictures.

These are my best hunting rifles, These are not your pretty-lookin-at guns that some of you guys like to show off. I will not post the remington, browning or marlin rifles, they are unworthy to stand in this group because they are all pure factory rifles. These rifles are tools and treated as such, they have withstood rough service in extreme weather conditions and been knocked around some in the process. All stocks were final shaped and finished by me by hand using danish oil finish and they will go through a resurfacing when the dings get too annoying. My trapdoor is in the shop for head space issues, I have another Arisaka in 7x57 also in the shop for timney trigger instalation and barrel crowning and the 1917 had to go to a new home so I could finance another project. L to R are 1.1898 krag rebarreled with an 03A3 barrel chambered in .30-40 and a boyds stock. I don't remember where the forearm band came from. Probably the persian? 2.03A3 in 6.5-284 douglas barrel, Timney trigger, stock came with gun. 3.03A3 in .35 whelen, Shilen barrel, Timney trigger, richards microfit stock. 4.Charles daly mauser .30-338, shilen barrel and medalist stock (not really military, so shoot me) 5. Persian mauser .338-06 shilen barrel, bold trigger, elk ridge stock, remington sights, the forearm dip comes from hand sanding (use the block dumass). 6.M1938 swede 6.5x55, timney trigger, boyds stock 7.type 38 Arisaka .308 win douglas barrel with a gunshow stock. (Stock $20, Action free, Barrel $75, Timney trigger $100, barrel fitting $100, cool rifle.....well you know the rest) ______________________ Are you gonna pull those pistols or whistle Dixie?

It's as easy as it gets, anyway. Looks like you posted the thumbnails. Regardless- copy and paste your photos addresses in notepad copy the first address, click the image button in the tool bar (red arrow), paste the address into the box. Do this for each photo. OR- go to the pic in your photobucket album, hover over the pic, from the dropdown menu select "IMG CODE" and copy that code, paste it directly into your message. OR- manually type the code: [ img ] paste the address here [ /img ] -with no spaces; spaces are included in my example so the code will appear to the eye in this message, when typed correctly, it does not appear to the eye when published. I removed the "th_" ("thumb") from the address, giving the address of the full-size pic. http://i1080.photobucket.com/a...tto1/th_DSCN1250.jpg http://i1080.photobucket.com/a...igotto1/DSCN1250.jpg You should be able to just copy the full-size address out of your album. Nice rifles, too.

So now that I have that under control.... the krag and the Arisaka are parkerized and the rest is duracoat. My idea of "custom" rifles is to put the money in the metal work and do the rest myself. More time than money!! ______________________ Are you gonna pull those pistols or whistle Dixie?

I really like your krag. Stock seems to be thicker or heavier than mine. Wood looks very good and the stock band doesn't hurt anything. I like the oldies. Frank

That krag stock came from Boyds and was for the rifle version and I cut it down to a carbine length. I don't remember where the barrel band came from but probably from a mauser. Perhaps a persian? ______________________ Are you gonna pull those pistols or whistle Dixie?
