that m95 in the top picture is probably the best looking m95 i've ever seen

Similar to that 95, I've seen a Steyr straight pull and the Portuguese Mauser hybrid (whatever it's called) done in the same manner- very unique and handsome rifles, both.

Besides the Portuguese, wasn't there another split bridge rifle chambered in 8X57, perhaps made in eastern Europe c.WW2?

the hungarian 98/40 was the other split bridge.
i have a golden state trailmaster in 308, they were based on the portuguese verguiero 1904.
