I'm in the process of putting a Timney in my "new" Argentine in hopes of going from 13 lbs with enough travel to reach Argentina to a crisp 3-4 pounds. I'm stuck trying to remove the front sight. Any suggestions? I've tried YouTube, but nothing on the cavalry model. I meant to be DSC Member...bad typing skills. Marcus Cady DRSS

I don't think you need to remove the front sight. Jim Kobe 10841 Oxborough Ave So Bloomington MN 55437 952.884.6031 Professional member American Custom Gunmakers Guild

Mine had a set screw under the blade;then it just tapped off with a brass hammer. No solder or such. Others may be different. Mike

I soaked it overnight in oil and that did the Rick. Now to try to get the trigger pin punched out... I meant to be DSC Member...bad typing skills. Marcus Cady DRSS

That was what was needed. I'm still impressed with this 117 year old gun and still haven't shot it. I meant to be DSC Member...bad typing skills. Marcus Cady DRSS

Won't the fore-end furniture come off without removing the sight?

13 lbs is way outside normal. The military trigger should only be around 5 lbs when clean and lubed. Yes there is a two stage take-up but the let-off should be crisp. I often replace all of the trigger group pins with new and lube. Then polish the sear surfaces.
