I started to clean it up and look it over. I can't find any import marks or russian capture marks on it. All #'s match. The stock appears to be an older Fajan. My guess is that this is an older import or vet bring back gun that had been sporterized years ago. I don't think it's one of the russian capture guns that are currently on the market, but I don't know for sure.

Anyhow, I have a pretty good relationship whith the pawn shop owner and he grabbed it out of the back room for me when I walked in. He figured that I would want it, I missed out on a Sporterized Swede (last week) by about two hours, could've had the swede for $125.

The bore looks really good, though it was dirty when I got it. I shot one round through it, the sights aren't all that easy to use with that high comb.

Funny, the pawn shop owner had sent it to a gunsmith to get the chamber slugged. He wanted to make sure that it wasn't a .243 win. Roll Eyes

Gun Control - A theory espoused by some monumentally stupid people; who claim to believe, against all logic and common sense, that a violent predator who ignores the laws prohibiting them from robbing, raping, kidnapping, torturing and killing their fellow human beings will obey a law telling them that they cannot own a gun.

I can remember vividly going into Kaufman's Surplus on West 42nd Street in NYC where I was offered a similar 8mm Mauser for $15. In those days they practically gave them away.

Of course, the starting salary for young lawyers in Wall Street firms was $3200 per year and we thought that was a lot.

Do you recall Stoeger, on 5th above 42nd? I posted a page from one of their catalogs, and the address was printed on it.
