I thought that this rifle was chamber in 6.5 carcano. I fired 4 rounds all 4 showed signs of over pressurization casing discoloring near the rim, sooting around the end of casing, primer burn though and sticky extraction. Does anyone have any ideals? 1 shot 1 thrill

Could just have excessive headspace.

You indicate you "thought" is was 6.5 Carcano, you may want to do a casting and determine the caliber. If it is a headspace issue it will need to be properly headspaced. If it is a caliber issue you just need to get the correct ammo. Jim

Could it be a 7.35 Italian Carcano?? Try to stick one of your 6.5 bullets in the nuzzle end of the barrel. If it goes all the way in in might be a 7.35. Also sometimes some of these war surplus guns are rechambered for a more avilable brass case. I know some 6.5 Jap rifles were rechambered for the 257 Roberts case. DOUBLE RIFLE SHOOTERS SOCIETY
