I have come to a point of mounting a scope on my latest project.

My finest looking Mauser recever, a J.P. Sauer 98 (marked 1917)chambered in 243 cal. heavy barrel with charger hump still in place.

Buying mounts (base and rings) for project. Scope is 4x16x50 Gameseeker II Pentax

Leupold Scope mounts or Weaver mounting system? What is best for general off a bench shooting mostly 100 through 300 yards?

Thanks

I'd say go with the Leupold, same as Redfield, and Burris twist in rings and bases.

I too would go Leupold. I have had problems with some redfields only accepting Redfield rings. The front mount is sometimes slightly too shallw to seat the front Leupold ring.

Leupold 2pc mounts for aesthetics.

For benchrest you may want a solid 1pc mount though.

I buy Mauser actions, parts, micrometers, tools, calipers, etc. Specifically looking for pre-WWII Mauser tools.
