I've almost finished my take on Jeff Cooper's scout rifle concept. Here is a Spanish FR-8 Mauser in 7.62 x 51mm, in a Hogue synthetic stock, with a Timney trigger, an XS scout scope rail and a Leupold 2.5 x 28mm scout scope. I hope to get her to the range this weekend.

Old age is a high price to pay for maturity!!! Some never pay and some pay and never reap the reward. Wisdom comes with age! Sometimes age comes alone..

Very nice!

Now, if you just chopped the barrel an inch or two and had it threaded for a can, you'd be way ahead in the pseudo-Scout rifle competition. tu2

Unscrew the flash hider and screw on a can with 15mm x 1 threads (same as the HK-91/G3 series of rifles)--it couldn't be much simpler than that. No plans for a suppressor, though.

It shoots okay without one. Five rounds at 100 yards, from the bench:

- modified Burris mount
- Ching sling

---------

3 shots do not make a group, they show a point of aim or impact.
5 shots are a group.
