I have a Husqvarna Model 46 that was made in the mid 30's. It's a 9.3x57 and I've never done much with it. It's built on a 96 action. I actually just listed it on GB to try and fund something else, but I'm hinking that if it doesn't sell it would make a fun project. There is another 96 based rifle on GB in 9.3x62. My question is would there be enough room to punch my 57 out to 62? Just a thought in case it doesn't sell.

Personally I wouldn't invest a dime in any Mauser action made prior to the model of 1898. (Many will disagree with this) There's a M-98 action right now on the classifieds that will make a fine 9.3 X 62.....(no it's not mine) I'd far rather invest in a M-98 rifle then anything prior to that model! Sell the '96 and reinvest in a M-98 Good luck to you! /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// "Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery." Bigfatts I recommend you repost this in the gunsmithing forum where some of the smiths can give you a straight answer. That said....my first post was a sincere one! /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// "Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery." Thanx for the input guys. It was just something I was kicking around in my head in case I don't sell it. Probably wouldn't ever get around to it.

i talked to mike mccabe a yr or so ago about a 9.3x57... he's very knowledgeable about them... i paid less than $400 for mine, with 150 rds of brass and rcbs dies...but it had been drilled and tapped for weaver bases, too... i changed the safety to a 2 position, and had tip burns work the bolt to clear a scope....these older guns are fun to shoot... go big or go home ........
