I picked up a chilean mauser at a gun show . I want to take out some of the walk in the trigger without compromising any safety . Any suggestions

The "walk" is probably the 1st stage of the 2 stage trigger, it is supposed to be that way. There are several commercial replacement triggers that conver them to single stage pulls, if that's what you want.

"Walk" the original trigger out of there and put in a Timney.
