I sight my 35 Whelen in at 3" high at 100yds and it is 9" inches low at 300yds with plenty of power. Similar to a 30-06. Snapper

Kevin, get this, went with almost max load from Alliant since I have the improved case, 250g chrono'd at 2680-2690fps with good accuracy. but it was a bit hot. no problem lifting or extracting but the primer was starting to flatten out. I came home and saw the post lady on the way in and stopped and got my package of NorthFork bullets, they said 4% less powder needed for same velocity, so that might solve both the pressure problem and give the 2600fps. that I would like to see. Alas, firing pin problem with the rifle is going to keep it from going hunting with me I think. But the 06 was shooting good too, so I will be all right. thanks for the input, I am real happy with this and I think that if this all works the way it looks like it is going then I will just use the 250g NorthFork from now on. :-) Red

I have only used the North forks in 30 cal, 7mm cal, 338, 375, 416 and 404 but I will personally guarentee you that every bullet you recover will be a perfect mushroom in any caliber..I have shot a heck of a lot of game with them including quit a number of Cape Buffalo, Zebra, Hartebeest, wart hog, deer, elk and whatever..They are the most consistant performer I know of...

Ray, that's not very much experience with them (only 6 calibers and only 6+ game species), not sure I can bank on that. I sadly didn't get to use them on the hunt because of a problem with the rifle that i have to sort out, something hanging up causing misfires. But I am very enthusiastic and can't wait to get out and get the rifle ready for deer/bear season. Hopefully with the cost of these bullets there isn't a lot of load development. I am hoping to drop my load that was a touch hot the other day with the speer 250's down and still get good performance. Since the bullets have a little note that specifically says they normally do the same as other bullets with 3-4% less powder I am going to drop it 5% or a touch more lower than the load that was a bit hot and see how it works out. Then this year I'll see if I can't try them out a few times! Red
