Your the first person that I have ever talked to that blew a woodleigh bullet apart..I have shot all manner of big beasts with them and all with perfect expansion...Apparantly your shooting them into dirt or too fast in the 340 and need a heavier bullet..I doubt if they were designed for the 340...You sure won't blow the 300 gr. Woodleigh up a bear...I have shot them through Cape Buffalo.

Yes, I was shooting at a target and then dug the Woodleighs from the dirt. From the muzzle I was getting around 2770 fps average and the target was 200 yards away.. All I could locate was the copper shell but no lead core attached.

When talking about Nosler's for Bears(any bears) the word to remember is Partition no matter what the caliber. Forget Ballistic Tips, PERIOD. Lawdog

I also am a big fan of the Nosler Partition. I also use the Speer Grand Slams and Remington Core Loks for moose in Canada. All of them will anchor a moose nicely with a good, well placed shot. Best wishes.

If your hunt is spot and stalk try the 210 Nosler Partition. If I was hunting over bait, and thus my shots would be close I would go with the 250 Nosler Partition.
I once shot an Elk at 90 yards with a 340 WBY with the 210 Partition. It went right through and the Elk went right down.
