I have a Brno 21h in 7x57. It has double triggers. When set, the trigger pull is very light. When using the trigger un-set the trigger pull is horrid. Can anyone offer some guidance on how to adjust the trigger so it is decent in the un-set mode? Thanks.

I would suggest sending the barreled action to Dennis Olson..He recently did a hone job, trigger job on both front and rear of my 8x60 Brno mod 22F that is awesome. 4lbs. on the front and 1.75 on the rear best I can measure, maybe less but I can't make either slam fire..

Adjusting doesn't seem to work on the front without honing..the rear is usually pretty good.

Some time back I injured my right hand in a roping incident with a bad dally and a big steer. I can't manipulate double triggers very well and would have preferred to use a single trigger, but needed to keep this on original..

I'm not familiar with the Brno trigger, however other set triggers I am acquainted with all operate on the same principle. When use the unset trigger the arm of the trigger pushes against the sear. The resistance (weight of pull and creep) is a combination of friction between the sear and firing pin engaging surface and pressure from the firing pin spring. Qualified gunsmiths can work on the surfaces, smoothing them up to decrease friction. Actions on your own are best limited to spraying graphite on the surfaces and cocking/un-cocking the action to get the surfaces to "wear-in".

Or do a trigger job on the front trigger, which is the samething, but much faster than wearing one in..The Brno set trigger is just another set trigger as used on any Mauser of the day..

The design is meant to make the front trigger really heavy if used as a normal trigger. Same with my Simson Mauser 98.

I would not try fiddling with set triggers myself. Give it to a competent gunsmith or even a hobby "smith" who has some experience with set triggers.

You do not want to make the rifle unsafe by taking off metal at the wrong places.
