I've been using a 7STW for a number of years. I shoot year round and don't log the number of rounds fired but say avg 20 rds per range session with my 7STW. I push 140's as fast as they will go. I broke my barrel in using a one shot clean procedure and clean bore like it was a bench rest gun. Like you say, I have no reason to overheat barrel. Barrel is stainless steel. I'd say you have a good guess at a 1,000 rounds. I would have said a couple of thousand.

I have had my 7STW for about a year and with load testing have less than 200 rounds through it. Now that I have a round for it, actually 5 loads that shoot withing MOA of POA at 200 yards, I figure if 1000 rounds is all I get out of it I will have to replace the barrel in about ten years. I figure at that time I will be more than 1 MOA at 200 yards. If I let it go to 2 MOA at 200 yards (which is still Minute of Deer) I might could keep the original barrel for 20 years. But then again I might shoot it out in 7 to 14 years if I really do a lot of range time. Founding member of the 7MM STW club Member of the Texas Cull Hunters Association
