Anyone here have any experience with the MS model 72. To me, the rifle looks like a mix of features from the Manlicher Schoenauer MCA and the later Steyr model M. The rifle in question is a 30-06, Mannlicher full stock, factory mounts, with no scope for $1K. Condition is a strong 98%.

Bastard rifle: Not a MS and not a Styer, somewhere inbetween ! Wierd safety! The bolt is controlled feed. The reality of this gun is that the follower wing and spindle unit of the rotary magazine is made of some hard plastic and with age this plastic becomes brittle and fractures...... spontaneously ! Not only does this fracture there is a spacer buffer made of a similar material placed into the magzine well and this too splits with time under recoil. otherwise a great shooter! this one a 9.3x64

Never liked plastics on guns ! Plastic ages and as it ages it often becomes brittle and fractures with little provocation. The old MS's had metal rotary magazines en then along came Styer and they introduced plastics to the mags, problem is 40 years on UV, solvents and just time had it's way with the plastic and this is the result. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Seeing this, makes me appreciate my pristine MS Mod. 1952 full stock version. Only plastic on it is the buttplate and wish it were steel.

Thanks for the information. The magazine pictured looks very much like Steyr model M. I had one of those and dumped it because of plastic-Malakron? trigger guard and mags. At least with the Steyr, you could buy replacement magazines. I had three. I doubt that parts are available for a M72 in the states. Pity, they didn't use the MCA type rotary box.
