All the talk about the .350 is making me want to experiment with more loads. I have a great load with 225 Sierra's and an outstanding load with 225 Partitions. Don't need to and shouldn't change.......BUT>

In terms of ballistics B.C.'s and SD.'s, would the 200 X's do anything different? Some member here posted a while ago about African game slain with this combo. Did in everything short of Cape handidly. Just mulling over the pro's and con's of spending(wasting...as I never had any luck with Barnes) money on these bullets to try. I heard that they were discontinuing them???

What is a deguello??????? My spanish is pretty good, and I like ZZ Top, but what is one?

Jesse,
I read in one of the gun magazines that Barnes was discontinuing the 200 gr .358" X bullet due to lack of demand. (I'm at the office as I type this so I can't double check which magazine it was in right now.) Also, if my memory is correct, the 200 gr X is not listed in the current Barnes #3 reloading manual. They are showing it on their web site but I think their web site just hasn't been updated.

I don't have any experience using the 200 gr .358" X bullet so I can't comment on their performance. (I shoot a .35 Whelen.)

Jesse,

I used the barnes 200gr during last hunting season, with great results. I got full penetration on all animals (broadside shots), from red deer (six) to wild Boars (7) and foxes (2). One bullet broke both shoulders on a 120kg doe at around 200 meters - longest shot. No animal made more than a few meters after being hit.
I used to shoot 250gr intgerlock and partition bullets. The X gives more speed, less recoil, and excellent results.
On medium game, this rig is my ideal...

350, what region (town, city, village) are you from in France? Is 350 Rem Mag Ammo and reloading componants hard to find in FR?

Curious,

Brad

Brad,
I live in Paris, so I have to travel a lot to hunt. The 350RM is uneasy to find here in france, but I bought 2000 cases and 2 sets of reloading dies. Finding .35 bullets is easier, as the 35 whelen is popular (people like the rem 76OO pump.

Paris is a very nice city... I've been there only once, France twice (south). The 35 Whelen is popular? That surprises me! The French have never been accused of having bad taste though... well, the addtion at the Louvre MAY qualify!

Brad,
I said the 35 whelen is popular as remington sells some 7600 pump actions now that the semi autos are restricted (must have a 2 rounds, attached magazine).
BUT our most popular calibers are the 9,3X74 in an express rifle, the 280 rem in the rem 7400 (good old stocks), the 300 winch in a Bar, and the 9,3X62 in mauser type rifles.

Our firearms market is now under two trends:
cheap rifles:
Brno in 7X64, 300winch or 9,3X62, Browning BAR in 300winch, or rem 7600 in 35 whelen.
expensive rifles:
express rifles: chapuis in 8X57 or 9,3X74, and Blaser R93 in all common calibers.

I also owned the 7600, and shot the federal TBBC 225gr load. A 350RM twin, as for results...
