Is there a bandwagon here? Because I'm about ready to jump on it... The Remington 710 is probably the worst piece of garbage rifle I have ever shot. You can "feel" the cheap construction and low-grade materials throughout. It's terrible, and really very depressing that they would release such a poor example of firearms engineering. I am glad they will soon be releasing a new line of cheaper firearms to make up for the serious lack of judgement in releasing the 710 on the buying public. I'd almost rather shoot an exploding Sako, at least I know for sure she'll blow in a few rounds... With the Remington it just feels like it'll blow, but you never know. The Savage on the other hand, well geez! A fine firearm all around! As a standard weight sporter, it succeeds brilliantly. Excellent price point, no compromise with critical materials and engineering, good weight, decent balance, easy to accurize with and without the Accutrigger, if you can get over the fact that it looks like a bucket of ass, then you're ready to hunt with a rock-solid workhorse. The local sports warehouse was saying they sell more Savages then most other brands combined, because they just plain WORK RIGHT.

Remington's bean counters must have a streak of Jamaican in them 'cause they all subscribe to the "Mo Cheaply Made is Mo Bettah" school of marketing. Ron I still see 700 ADL's with the wood stocks machine cut chekering and a jeweled bolt...but not many of the them and all are over $4-$450 and the all black cheaper stuff is just that cheaper made..but at least they are still built on a 700 action. Kinda like the 870's Express being sold for under $200...I grew up on 870's and know the difference is only cosmetic..and I own an Express that has a nice coat of camo paint on it thats touched up every couple years for ducks and turkey. Same difference...still a serviceable butt ugly shotgun that is made "mo cheap is mo'Bettah! premise. R

I really don't like the all black look of the recent ADL. I have a late mid 80's ADL that is smooth and tight, has a jeweled bolt and a decent walnut stock. It is also miles ahead in quaility compared to anything new from remmy. Why did they start only making th ADL in a cheesy plastic stock and I really hate a blued bolt.

I have a Savage 111 in 300 winnie and I like it. I replaced the trigger guard and mounted a scope and had an instant tack driver. The barrel heats up fast (3 shots) but for hunting who cares. It is ugly and the stock is a glorified club but when I pick a rifle to hunt with I seem to always go to the field with it. Mostly because it always hits where I point it. If you want to be happy the rest of your life make a Savage your rifle and an ugly woman your wife.
