7 1/2 is rather on the light side IMO - additional 1/2 lb would make all the difference, but it will be up to you at the end tu2

I have shot a 9.3x74 Merkel that probably weighed 7 1/2 lbs - recoil was certainly noticeable ad stout but perfectly manageable. Saying that I would n't want to shoot 20 cartridges in rapid succession. But that's not the job of a 9.3x62 - its a hunting rifle that will be carried lots. Sounds like a nice little rifle.

My only complaint is the recoil pad is as effective as it could have been

My first and last impression of them and Ive owned 3..they are about as close to perfect as a rifle can be..I find no fault at all in weight, balance, accuracy and just over all good looks..Best comm. rifle of my lifetime, including my Mausers and pre 64 win. at least its a push..Same for my 338s in the same persuasion..Problem is they have these special runs that the price goes sky high when the 250 sell and I sell them high dollar profit, the life of a gun whore..

the recoil is moderate IMO as compared to a .375 and about like a 35 Whelen, and that hard recoil pad is solid and its not a recoil pad its a butt pad..If you pull the gun into your shoulder hard it will push you not hit you. or add a good recoil pad is you need one.

I REALLY do not care for the recoil pad, but as Ray pointed out, everything else is fantastic in our opinions.

I’ve stated this before, but the first thing I do on these rifles, is put a 1” black Decelerator recoil pad on them. Looks great and tames that light weight rifle nicely. It’s been mentioned that these rifles weigh 7 1/2 lbs., but my two (9.3x62)s weigh a little less, so the Decelerator is welcome.

Super rifles!! tu2

Such a capable caliber. Hope you share some photos soon, ALF.

With such light contoured barrels on these, I think a lot of folks will be disappointed with just “minute of deer” accuracy. While sub-MOA is nice, it is just not needed in such a rifle as this. The previous run has heavier barrels and can do MOA. These might not. If not, it wouldn’t bother me one bit!

FISH!!

Heed the words of Winston Smith in Orwell's 1984:

"Every record has been destroyed or falsified, every book rewritten, every picture has been repainted, every statue and street building has been renamed, every date has been altered. And the process is continuing day by day and minute by minute. History has stopped. Nothing exists except an endless present in which the Party is always right."

HERESY
But I certainly agree with Ray. The Ruger M 77 is a fantastic design. It's ejector and bolt stop are actual improvements over the M98 Mauser.

Anyone who claims the 30-06 is ineffective has either not tried one, or is unwittingly commenting on their own marksmanship

Very nice!

First time my heart jumped at the sight of a Ruger! Big Grin

I love the lines and the wood.

I agree that a thin hard pad needs to be replaced.

Varget is my go to powder. Some swear by Re17
