Are you ready for a scientific study on the penetration of the Hornady 300 gr DGS?
I just return from my farm where I chronographed some 375 H&H loads (Oehler 35; Mod 70 winchester. 24" barrel; 94 F) 2658 FPS avg over 4 rounds std dev 9.

My std medium is a 14" diameter black jack oak tree (Green).
3 shots all through; one shot pierced a 3" sapling about 15' behind the main target.
I have never had a soft come close top penetrating this medium in any cartridge. A TSX 400 gr 416 will penetrate about 9" @ 2400 FPS.
I could not see where there was anything but straight line penetration. I did not find any bullets!
Next time out I will duct tape some phone books on the back side of the tree in hopes of catching some of the projectiles; or better yet a "seasoned" sectioned tractor tire.

and what about the 300 grs TSX in your 375 - have you tried them and how far did they penetrate??
