I have a Browning White Gole Medallion that I am wanting to replace the original wood stock on. I like the gun alot with the wood/stainless look and I think it's a beautiful rifle. Problem is I'd like to keep the stock looking good AND be able to hunt with it. Thus, I've decided to replace it with an aftermarket synthetic stock. What is the best aftermarket synthetic stock for a .270 A-bolt and where is the best place to buy it? Also...my first post and glad to be here!

What part of Tn are you from? I too have an a-bolt rifle that I am trying to buy a stock for. Problem is there are not too many manufacturers making them. All I have been able to find are bell and carlson and mcmillans. The mcmillan stock is by far the best and is reflected in its price. You may be able to get a custom stock from someone like brown precision or bansner rifles.

NE part of TN. I saw the McMillan and I will probably go that route. If the Bell & Carlson that is available for the A-Bolt had the bedding block in it, I'd go with that one. I know I said best, but I'm not sure I'd pay the money required to get Brown or any custon outfit make me one. I'd really just like to find a standard Browning composite stock to put back on it.

Lone wolf will restock it for you but it will cost you. Took about 6 weeks and it really fits nice. A custom job that will reduce the weight by about 8 to 12 ozs. Can get both left and right hand down to 16 ozs even lighter in right hand stocks.

Why not use the Browning composite stock ??? I have no problems at all with the one on my Composite Stalker. Elite Archery and High Country dealer.

I too have a White Gold Medallion and understand your temptation to put a synthetic on to save the gorgeous wood. I plan on using the wood and giving it character over the years (scratches and dings). You ought to call Browning customer service and see if they can sell you one as a replacement part. If the gal answering the phone says no -ask her to escalate the call to someone above her. You can do it if you try. PS Escalate the call is the correct Customer Service lingo so use it if necessary.

For an alternative, if you can do without synthetic... Boyd's makes a laminate stock for like $65.00... It takes about 4 hours or so to finish it, which is fairly easy.... I have two in a grey laminate on two of my A Bolts that came thru with the synthetic stocks... NO wait time and they are pretty nice looking when done, yet are pretty durable.... I use them here in Oregon, where we get tons of wet and rugged mountain use...they hold up quite well actually.... www.boydboys.com is their website... cheers seafire
