I'm thinkng of getting myself a present for my 41st birthday and have been thinking about a Kimber 84M Classic in 7mm-08. Anybody have any personal experience with them? I've looked over a couple Kimber rimfires and they sure look like a quality product. Never handles a centerfire rifle from them though.

Give me your opinions.

Mine is an early one. I had trouble getting it to shoot well when I first got it, but have found a load it likes.

Light, easy to carry, and classy looking. Be ready to have people asking you for a look at the range.

I got bit by the Kimber bug last fall and bought a 84M Classic in 260. It is the most accurate rifle of its size I have ever seen. The "problem" with it is that the stock was so nice that I did not want to carry it in the field.

So I rushed out and bought another one. This one is a 7mm-08. The problem with this one is that the QD sling swivels buggered up the stock as Kimber was countersinking the studs into the wood and some swivels are too big. So I brought it back to Kimber and they put on a new stock, improved the feeding, safety and the floorplate where the old ones hit the stock when it opens.

Now the problem with this 7mm-08 is that it now has a very fancy stock too! This rifle is really my sons but I have it here and I am shooting it in rotation. It's about a 1.25 MOA shooter but now I have found a load that is better but needs confirmation.

Since this rifle is too pretty also I solved that problem by buying a Kimber 84 Montana in 243. These have the new three position safety by the way.

Kimber cares about what they are doing. Look the guns over good. What you see's is what you gets.

Thanks for the inputs guys. I'll go down to the dealer in the morning and see what he has on hand. The birthday is tomorrow.

It's still better than the alternative, though...
