Has anybody used this bullet? Midway had some bulk packaged as seconds a while back and I bought a box to try in my 338/06. I’ve never used or loaded a mono bullet, but the GMX seem to be similar to a Barnes TSX. Thought they might be good for deer, elk or African PG. I'm going to post this over in the reloading forum as well. Thanks! Adam 30+ years experience tells me that perfection hit at .264. Others are adequate but anything before or after is wishful thinking.

Have a hunting buddy from down your way (Covington) that spends over half the year up here in Alaska. He just changed from Barnes TSX to those hornady GMX's in his 30-378. Swears they shoot the same and penetrate better, and are way cheaper. I bought 8 boxes in 30 cal & 338 just on his admonishments; getting ready to start reloading them when the time is there. Other people have told me they don't hold as good as groups, but my buddy tells me they do; wait and see I guess. They all kill moose, caribou, and bear if ya hit them halfway right.

I have not been able to find any to try in my 338-06's yet. But my experience with 130gr GMX's in a 270 Win lead me to believe they are a "little" softer and I mean little. Strictly due to recovered bullets expanding a little wider and having smoother edges. This an example of one, so take it for what it is. The gilding metal that Hornady uses is a "little" softer than than the all copper Barnes. Truly splitting frog's hairs as one would never be able to distinguish the performance difference in the field.
