First Stop Guns has listed a very nice Dakota Model 76 in 350 H&H. I am unfamiliar with this cartridge and have not found any specifics. Can anyone shed some light on what it is and what it is based on?

I have heard of the .350 G&H (Griffin and Howe) but not the cartridge you mention.

I have 7 or 8 original 350 G&H cartridges. Let me check some sources.

In the late 40's and early 50's Griffin & Howe also had a .333 caliber, their short lived .333 G & H Magnum, the .350 G & H necked down to .333-

Are you sure its not a 350 Rigby magnum, I have never heard of a 350 H&H. There was also a 350 Rimless magnum, same as the 350 Rigby.. All of the 350s were between the 358 Norma and a 35 Whelen with a 225 gr. bullet at about 2500 FPS and the Rigby at one time was fairly popular for DG in Africa..I have shot a 350 Rigby in Africa that belonged to an old PH I knew..His was a lovely rifle with a terrible bore that shot little tiny groups!!

I remember a wildcat that was a 375 necked down to 35 caliber and it was called the 350 Holland and Holland as I recall. I had one in a super grade mod. 70 in my younger days..It was a real bugger bear and was a bit rough on our West Texas mule deer with those 35 Remington bullets I shot in it, rather explosive.

According to Cartridges of the World, 11th edition, the 350 G&H was also known as the 350 H&H, as Holland & Holland chambered it in their rifles for a number of years.

The 350 G&H Mag has the same pressure limits of the parent cartridge, 62,366 psi.

Max case capacity is 97.07 H2O grains.

Playing around with it in QL, it's a very interesting round if you don't mind the recoil.

It's not a monster like a number of big bores we all know about but it will push you around.

OK, I used to have one of those babies, it was the pre war mod. 70 Super grade, converted..It was a bell ringer..I don't think I ever shot anything with it, maybe a deer or two, can't recall.

It certainly is a powerful rifle caliber, and mine was double accurate at about an inch to a inch and a half average for 5 shots, which based on the 300 H&H case isn't a surprise..

I see it as a 35 Super, about the same difference in it and the 300 H&H as the 30-06 and the 35 Whelen..

Today if I wanted such a rifle I'd just opt for a 35 Taylor (358/338) or a 358 Norma..The 35 magum is very much over looked in the US, mostly I think because most Americans can't seem to understand that a silly milmeter in bore diameter can make a difference, but it does IMO make a lot of difference. Most Africans believe in the value of cross section of bullet. It really shows up in the big bores>>. I see it as a bit better then the 338 up to about 200 yards. Iive seen some awful nice work done with the 358 Norma magnum, its an awesome killer. but I still shoot the .338 and have for years so I'll stick with it, if I need more I have a .375.
