I read something about a rifle chambered in 9x63 LSG calibre. One would think it would similar to a 35 Whelan but I cant find any information on it. Anyone know anything about this calibre ?

CoW says it even uses .358 bullets; so it's a 35 Whelen from Germany. Or was. Do you have one?

No I do not have one or ever seen one. Just read something about one Looked in my Cartridges of the world books (I have three) and could not find anything. Just thought I would ask. Now I have another question. How could it be developed from the 30-06 in 1905 ? The 30-06 was not developed til 1906 ??

30-03 was developed in 1903; the 1906 version was with a lighter, Spitzer bullet. And the 30-03 has a longer case length of 2.5 inch (65mm). That cartridge was chambered and loaded commercially until the 30s, even though all the Springfields were recalled and barrels set back and rechambered. The 9 x 63 could also be thought of as a lengthen 7x57 too. A Mauser cartridge, whereas the 8x57 was not. Too much info. Bottom line; a case suitable for a 63mm long 9mm cartridge case was available. Of course, they didn't use US military brass to make it.

The 30-06 was developed from the 30-03 (circa 1903). Almost identical cases, the 03 was a slightly longer case if memory serves. "For they have sown the wind, and they shall reap the whirlwind..." Hosea 8:7
