ive got a rem 700 in 25-06, the barrel is a little on the worn side and fouls pretty heavily, looked down it through a bore scope and it looks like its seen better days.

I was talking to the guy i buy all my reloading stuff off, and we got to talking about rebarreling it. he has a few lilja barrels coming in, should be in his shop in a day or two.

we talked barrel length, contour and cartridge.

if i were going to get one it would be either number 4 or 5 contour, 26" long and either 284win or 280 ackley (they have boxes of nosler 280ackley brass in stock)

and hes going to guarantee half inch or better 5 shot groups @ 100yards. barrel installed will cost roughly half the price of a tikka t3.

sound reasonable?

IF he is going to make a guarantee like this and IF the rifle delivers that accuracy, I would consider it a good deal.

I presume your guy has a good reputation? Have you talked to anyone he has rebarreled a gun for?

the guy i talked to about it owns a reloading/hunting store. and he has a gunsmith on site, although ive never seen him but ive never been there apart from on a weekend. that gunsmith has produced rifles for the owner of the store.the owner represented New Zealand in the world Free Rifle champs in Canada (whenever it was) and came in at 7th place out of 410 shooters with a score of 733 out of 780, just seven points behind the winner's 740.

Absolutely a GREAT deal. Plus you aren't "stuck with" a tika.

Best of luck to you.
