I am going to use the 300gr Barnes SN with .049" jacket next month on my Bison hunt. Will us Reloader 22, and MV will be between 2450 and 2500fps. Does anyone have any field experience with this bullet?

I used them years ago and I didn't like them at all as they expanded OK at short range but not a 200 yards...They have been discontinued as far as I know. I would rather shoot the BarnesX in a lighter bullet, the x bullet will out penitrate it any way...

If I was going to use a 300 gr.SN bullet I would use the wonderfull Woodleighs. They can had from several sources in the USA....Huntingtons is my outlet...Apparantly your shooting a 338 or 375..Woodleigh has both in 300 gr.

I used the 400 gr. Woodleigh in my 450-400 last year with perfect results on my Bison...That was a fantastic hunt...I really like hunting Bison on a fair chase hunt...
