I realize I don't know what my Sako will like until I load em and shoot em, however I'd like to see what powders people are having the best velocity and accuracy from. Retumbo, RL25 and MagPro seem to be good in the velocity arena, my rifle happen to shoot Federal Factory 130BT's and 140AB's very well I'd like to use 140TSX's.

Just my experience, but my 270 WSM seems to work best with RL 22.

I use 140 grain bullets and use nothing but RL 22.

However, my buddy uses RL 19 in his with great success. However, he shoots 130 grain bullets.

Hope this helps, R F

Magpro will offer the highest velocity and outstanding accuracy with a 140 Accubond. It gives me .25 MOA @ 3150 fps. I could get more velocity, but the accuracy suffers.

I also have gotten good results with Reloder 19 with 130 gr bullets, but my favorite powder is still Vihtavouri N-165 with the 140 gr Nosler Accubond. It seems more consistently accurate than Reloder 22 in my rifle. I have a pound of Magpro and confess that I have been so happy with the N-165 that I haven't tried it yet.

Bullets are pretty worthless. All they do is hang around waiting to get loaded.

The various 4832's all do well for the 4 SAKO .270 WSM's I have, I prefer the H4831sc, and also have great results with IMR 4350.

Good Shooting--Don

My Tikka T3 LS 270WSM loves Retumbo with 140gr. Accubonds. Between 1/4 to 1/2" groups.

I have some 140gr. TSX loaded up with Retumbo and RL 22 but have not been to the range yet.

2 different Kimber 270 WSM's, same load.

French Walnut 8400 at 100yds:

8400 Classic 270WSM at 200yds:

The load shot just as well in my buddies HS precision PH but I didn't save the targets.

61 gr of IMR 4350 and a 130 gr. Ballistic tip gets 3280 FPS and real good accuracy.

Anyone using RL22, are your RL22 loads compressed?

Ok so it looks like RL22 and Magpro need to be added to my powder supply.

Did the poster that said 4832's mean 4831's?

I like plain old IMR-4350 in mine with 110gr V-max's, 130gr Hornadies, & 150gr Hornadies.

WW cases and WW mag Primers.

I've got some Magpro but haven't done much with it.

I had an overload with Magpro. I used it when I got my new 8400 Montana in the fall of 2004 and worked up a load with 140 BT's to the maximum published load. It was accurate enough and quite fast.

When that bottle was gone I got another and now it was the spring of 2005 and it was getting warm. I worked the new bottle up to 74.0 grs and shot it in about a 80F temperature. A case stuck in the chamber and the velocity was very high.

I had to take the gun home to remove it as my small cleaning rod could not do it.

I don't trust Magpro or anything else that Accurate sells. My local dealer is dropping AA stuff for this reason.

My rifle has never been super accurate. Today I am shooting 130's with 4831sc and the shims under the barrel shank that seemed to be a miracle a couple of months ago are not working now. On the other hand maybe they are and something else is wrong? Of all the powders used Magpro was as accurate as any and gave the highest velocities with 140's.
