* HELP I have a early fifties FN commercial Mauser. I need to know the barrel diameter 3'' +- in front of the stock. I don't have calipers and my gunsmith is 100 miles away. I have a very early FN commercial (ser. #5111) I purchased on AR from a fine gentleman in an original 250-3000 caliber. All those barrels had the same outside measurement as far as I know..The area you are talking about is a 4 inch sleeve and it measures 1.090 at 3 inches..These are wonderful rifles..I had a 30-06 until recently and it measured the same..
