I have a Tikka whitetail hunter in 338 WM and a T3 in 243 win, both triggers are excellent and both are accurate shooters. I like the style of the T3 a little better than the hunter, they are both VERY light. I have been toying with the idea of adding some weight to the 338s stock but Im hesitant to mess with it too much.

Tikka t3 isn't out in stainless yet. I look at a Sako 75 finnlight 300 mag weights 6.6 lbs fluted barrel nice price at $1000 plus mounts, Tikka t3 out the door for $485 includes mounts. I've got a t3 in 300wsm and it groups 1/2" for 3 shot at 100 yds. Tough choice.

I've got two Sako 75's and I'll be adding more in the future. I've never enjoyed a rifle as much as I have these. They fit well, they shoot well and they never fail to function properly.

While I am a huge Sako enthusiast, for a rifle you plan to drag around in rain, snow, and mud, I think I might opt for the less expensive but still excellent Tikka. After all, even if it is stainless and synthetic, I would still hate to abuse an expensive Sako when a Tikka that costs several hundred dollars less an will perform similarly is available.

I have a Sako 75 in .338 Win Mag and really like it. I have only shot it at the range so far, but will be taking it to Newfoundland this September.

I have the Sako 75 Hunter in .280 and it is one of the few rifles that I own that will shoot good groups with nearly any type of ammo that I try, any required zero gunsmithing tweaks after the purchase. Just put the scope on and pick the ammo that you want to use. Excellent rifles, in my opinion.

Right now Cott Firearms in Gilliam Mo, has Sako 75 Stainless in 7 STW, and 7 ULTRA for $649. IMHO you can't as good a rifle for anywhere near this price -it's several hundred under wholesale normaly Sako 75's are $1000ish. The Tikka's are very nice for a lightweight less expensive rifle. If you wanted to save money and have an accurate light rifle try the Tikka. If you want the best buy a Sako 75. Tikka's must shoot 3 shot 1" groups at 100 to leave the factory, 75's must shoot 5 shot sub 1" groups to leave the factory......DJ
