My wife called me at work today and said she found me a new toy. She said this guy had several guns at a garage sale and would like to know if i wanted this 99c? DUH! She said it looks real nice. I wont be home untill tuesday. Anyone know anything about the 99c? Year value etc. I dont normally hold onto guns for long, just play for awhile and move on. Value etc. would be nice to know. She bought it right, she must have cause she knows i'm tight as bark on a tree, or so she says.

Nice rifle...nice saddle gun. Savage 99's were one of the strongest actions ever devised. I think you got a keeper.

I have a Savage 99F in 243 win. The F model is lighter and somewhat more refined than the C model. Nevertheless you will find it to be a nice hunting rifle especially for 100-150 pound whitetails. A nice rifle to carry and accurate enough for its purpose. The trigger is likely to be quite firm but some of this can be overcome by use. You might try dry-firing using a fired empty case in the chamber. Suggest 100 gr Nosler Partitions for deer.
