What do you guys think the following rifle is worth as is?

Nice looking gun. It looks to be a standard "Supergrade". It has a Supergrade stock! Does it have a gold bead front site? If so, then most likely its a Supergrade. The rear site is missing, and a recoil pad was added. The engine tuned bolt was most likely not done at the factory. This feature was standard on later Supergrades then the one you have listed. I can't see the blueing well, but if it is done well I would estimate your gun at between $1,200-$2,000. If it was original you could double that figure. I hope this was helpful!

I would agree with the lower price, particularly because it seems the seller does not know what he is selling; I would also want to confirm that the serial number is in fact to a Super Grade gun and that someone did not just put a super grade floorplate onto a standard rifle. T

FYI, saw a pre 64 action alone go for $861 on gunbroker just this week, yeah, much too high but hey two people thought it was worth that much! My guess is the stock is also Super Grade. Even I would pay $750 for it but I am not a buyer, BTDT too many times already.

It could very well be a standard rifle in a SG stock. But since the rifle has been reblued, and the stock altered, the value of the rifle is considerably lower than one of original production in that configuration.

Gun values vary a great deal from area to area within the US. Consequently, it would difficult for me to give an honest dollar value for the rifle.

As an aside; many SG model 70's had a reverse "S" stamped on the bottom of the receiver, and "SUPER" stamped on the bottom of the barrel. If these are present, along with the SG floor plate,and a Redfield 255 gold bead front sight insert, then likely the rifle did in fact, begin life as a bona fide Super Grade .270WCF. Having said that, in the 25 odd years of collecting/selling/trading M-70's, I have seen original standard rifles NIB with SUPER on the underside of the barrel. Also, I've had NIB SG rifles with NO markings on the receiver lug, nor on the barrel. Winchester didn't maintain the stampings throughout production.

I'm afraid this missive didn't adequately address your question re: "How much", but FYI. I sold a ,270WCF SG rifle in 98% condition for $2950 at the Denver Collector Show last year. Originality, and condition = $$$$

Some pretty cheap estimates going on here..I would put that gun, a pre 64 M-70 Win SG standard weight, not fwt. at about $2000..

I think the recoil pad is added as the original is red if I'm not mistaken, and it looks to be a nice rust blue and maybe a nice refinish on the stock, but its done very well indeed...

NOT a featherweight and not original but very clean.

Personaly I give $1200 for it but it will go for more.
