And that curiosity extends to AR membership. Among my many questions about y'all, here's the first batch. And as usual, comments are welcomed. My country gal's just a moonshiner's daughter, but I love her still.

Canuck, Tried to vote. The poll wants me to answer every question. As I read it, I got the impression you wanted answers only if you're in a category, say rifle builder or hunter or whatever. Do you want to re work it, or should I answer all of them. Bfly Work hard and be nice, you never have enough time or friends.

Maybe add a NA (not applicable) answer to each question so if I don't build rifles for example I won't screw up your results? Have gun- Will travel The value of a trophy is computed directly in terms of personal investment in its acquisition. Robert Ruark

I tried answering just those that applied but it wouldn't accept blank answers so I went back and answered all of them. I do or have done each question even building a couple of rifles and single shot pistols but I don't consider myself a smith. I just answered the questions to the best fit for my experience. At this stage in my life if the target is more than 25 yards I need a scope to help these old eyes see the sight and target at the same time. Speer, Sierra, Lyman, Hornady, Hodgdon have reliable reloading data. You won't find it on so and so's web page.

Thanks guys. I didn't realize it would try to make you answer the ones which don't apply. I am going go back and amend the options for each category. so you don't have to answer questions which don't apply. GThat will erase all of the answers of those who have already voted, so I hope it will also let you vote again. If it doesn't, please let me know. If it ends up that way, I'll just repost the whole thing. My country gal's just a moonshiner's daughter, but I love her still.

There are people that are not hunters or target shooters, but do a lot more then "plink". Plinking is shooting pop cans with a 22 RF, shooting a 220 Swift at paper for no other reason than to see what it will do is not target shooting, but it's not plinking either. Target shooting is a competitive sport to me.

Like PaulS, my preference for scopes is more of a necessity than a preference these days In my youth, it was probably the other way around and even today, I get to take several shots where (given good eyes), I think I would have preferred open sights

this was tough for me to answer. sometimes I shoot targets of opportunity. i'll shoot rocks if targets aren't available. I use whatever sights I have on the gun I'm using that day. I will switch guns during the day when hunting depending on the terrain/cover I'm going to cover. and have set-up my shooting bench during the afternoon on a deer hunt and had a little target practice session and have had a plinking contest right on the mountain when I got tired of waiting for a deer or elk to wander by. heck sometimes I switch from jaxketed bullets to cast in the middle of a hunt. I have been known to walk down and shoot my levergun or revolver between trap/skeet relay's just cause I have some free time too. so I don't really know what category I fall into.

"I am a heavy durty experimenter" You spelled "dirty" wrong. Frank "I don't know what there is about buffalo that frightens me so.....He looks like he hates you personally. He looks like you owe him money." - Robert Ruark, Horn of the Hunter, 1953 NRA Life, SAF Life, CRPA Life, DRSS lite

When I added "not applicable" to the options, I tried to correct the spelling from "durty" to "duty", but obviously was not successful. As to "target shooting", that was not just "competitive target shooting". It was ANY kind of target shooting, including (but not restricted to, paper targets, gongs, blazes on trees, rocks, cans, silhouettes, or whatever. That is very similar to "plinking" for some folks, but if one shoots mainly at standardized targets, whether for testing, sighting in, load testing, just plain fun, or in competition, it is target shooting. There is no need to make something so simple into something complex and exacting. It is a POLL, not a test. You are whatever you see yourself as. Ok AC, I will make my response as simple as possible, I rarely shoot unless I am going to draw blood and make meat. Does that work? Even the rocks don't last forever.

Before I eagerly shot with all sort of guns at all sorts of targets and loved to experiment to find the best loads for all sorts of guns and bullets. Today, my main purpose of owning guns, is to hunt. And everything I do with my guns is in the purpose of hunting. In fact I in general think it is utterly boring to be at the target range and shoot. Earlier I loved to do competition shooting. Today, I find it boring. My passion for hunting is still burning extremely strong, but the passion for shooting stopped to burn and got cold many years ago.

Of c course it does. To me it sounds as if you are a hunter. The question is do you use a scope on your rifle(s), iron sights, both, or neither (NA)? My country gal's just a moonshiner's daughter, but I love her still.
